Support the Don't Say the Pledge Campaign!
"Under God" was never part of the original Pledge of Allegiance--it was added in 1954, when the country was in the grip of McCarthyism. And today, "under God" is actively used by Religious Right extremists to argue that America is a "Christian nation" as they attempt to insert creationism in science classes, encourage teacher-led prayers in public schools, and break the wall separating church and state.
Until the Pledge is restored to its inclusive version of "one nation indivisible," the American Humanist Association encourages students from across the country to take a stand by sitting down during the Pledge of Allegiance as part of its new Don't Say the Pledge Campaign.
Your donation to the American Humanist Association today will help raise awareness of the Don't Say the Pledge campaign and support lawsuits that will arise from students' exercising their right to sit out the Pledge. Support "one nation indivisible" and make your most generous donation to the American Humanist Association right now.
